Broccoli with Breadcrumbs
Prep: 10 min, Cook: 15 min.
  • 1 lb. broccoli florets
  • 2 tsp. unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 2 Tbs. parsley, finely chopped

Place broccoli in a steamer basket over boiling water. Cover saucepan and steam 5-6 minutes or until bright green and tender. Drain and transfer to a serving dish. Keep warm. Melt butter in a heavy nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add breadcrumbs and stir until butter is absorbed. Sprinkle broccoli with breadcrumbs and parsley. Toss lightly.

Onion Garlic Bread

  • 1 Tbs. plus 1 tsp. unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/8 tsp. parsley flakes
  • 1/4 loaf Italian bread, sliced
  • 2-1/2 tsp. grated Parmesan cheese

Prepare broiler. Combine first 4 ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Spread butter mixture over bread slices. Lightly sprinkle cheese over top. Broil bread 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.

Chocolate Almond Ice Cream
Prep: 15 min, plus freezing time.
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup miniature chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup blanched almonds, toasted and chopped

Combine all ingredients, except chocolate chips and almonds, in a bowl. Mix thoroughly until sugar is dissolved. Stir in remaining ingredients and chill in refrigerator. Freeze in an ice cream maker 20-30 minutes until frozen.

This recipe serves 8 people. Due to the nature of this recipe, it adjusts the number of servings in multiples of 8 only.

Polish Sausage with Cabbage

  • 3/4 head green cabbage, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 head red cabbage, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. caraway seed
  • 3/4 tsp. sugar
  • 1 lb. cooked Polish sausage
  • water

Combine cabbage, caraway and sugar in a large pot. Top with sausage. Add enough water to cover. Simmer uncovered over medium heat 10-12 minutes until cabbage is tender. Drain and serve.
