Fatigue is a feeling of being extremely tired. Although fatigue can be caused by medicines such as antihistamines, lack of sleep is the more common cause. OTC stimulants for use in treating fatigue contain caffeine as their active ingredient. Never use caffeine as a substitute for adequate sleep. Also, contrary to popular belief, caffeine is not capable of reversing alcohol-induced impairment. Long-term chronic fatigue may be symptomatic of a more serious underlying condition (such as low thyroid or chronic infection). See a doctor. |
