Basic Barley
Prep: 5 min, Cook: 1:00.
  • 4-2/3 cups water
  • 1-1/3 cups pearled barley

Bring water to boil in a saucepan. Add barley and return to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 50 minutes, or until the water is absorbed. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving. You can substitute quick-cooking barley. In this case, simmering time is about 10 minutes.
