Streuselkuchen (Crumb Coffee Cake)

Prep: 15 min, Cook: 25 min.
  • 1-1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3 Tbs. shortening
  • 1 Tbs. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 Tbs. shortening
  • 2 Tbs. flour
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix first 7 ingredients by hand. Spread in a greased and floured 9 inch cake pan or springform pan. In a bowl, combine remaining ingredients, mixing with a fork to create crumbs. Spread on top of batter. Bake for about 25 minutes. Let cool before cutting.
