Strawberries with Brown Sugar and Sour Cream
Prep: 5 min.
- 2 lbs. Driscoll's strawberries
- 1/2 cup sour cream, or creme fraiche, plain yogurt, or nonfat vanilla
- 1/2 cup light or dark brown sugar
Rinse and dry berries leaving the hulls on for easier dipping (or use Driscoll’s elegant long-stemmed berries). Arrange in a large bowl. Put sour cream and brown sugar in two smaller bowls. Dip strawberries in sour cream then brown sugar. Enjoy!
Variations: * Use cookie crumbs instead of the brown sugar. * Use non-fat varieties of yogurt or sour cream. * Use ricotta cheese or Quark (fromage blanc) for dipping. * Use chopped walnuts, almonds, macadamia nuts or hazelnuts instead of the brown sugar. * Replace the brown sugar with chopped or grated chocolate. * Use plain or toasted coconut instead of the brown sugar. * Or just dip the beautiful berries in your choice of flavored syrup. (We like passion fruit or vanilla.) * Dip the berries in plain powdered sugar for delicious snow-capped peaks (you won’t need much because the berries are so sweet as is). * Whip together equal amounts of light cream cheese with any flavored yogurt until fluffy, dip away.
