Driscoll's Basic Cream Cheese Dip
You can make this rich, perfect-with-berries dip a day in advance, but do take it out of the refrigerator several hours before serving and stir well so it's dippable. The variations on this basic are endless, limited only by your imagination and the ingredients you have on hand.
Prep: 5 min.
- 1/2 lb. softened cream cheese, or lowfat cream cheese
- 1/4 cup milk or cream
- 2 Tbs. sugar
- 2 lbs. Driscoll's fresh berries
In mixer or food processor beat ingredients until smooth. Makes enough to dip 2 lbs. of berries.
Variations:
Citrus Cream Cheese Dip: To Basic Dip, add 1 tsp. grated lemon, orange or lime zest and 1 Tbs. lemon, orange or lime juice. OR add all three. OR add 1 Tbs. Triple Sec liqueur.
Raspberry Cream Cheese Dip: Gently stir 6 ounces rinsed and drained Driscoll's raspberries into Basic Cream Cheese Dip. Add citrus zest and juice as above, if you wish.
Lemon Poppy Seed Cream Cheese Dip: To Basic Dip add 1 Tbs. grated lemon zest, 1/4 cup lemon juice and 1 Tbs. poppy seed.
Ginger Cream Cheese Dip: To Basic Dip add 1/4 cup minced candied ginger.
Strawberries And Cream Cheese Dip: To Basic Dip, add 1 cup chopped Driscoll¹s strawberries.
This recipe serves 8 people. Due to the nature of this recipe, it adjusts the number of servings in multiples of 8 only.
