Caramelized Onions

  • 1 ounce unsalted butter
  • 1 Tbs. plus 1 tsp. oil
  • 2 medium onions, peeled and cut into thin rings
  • 1 tsp. balsamic vinegar, approximately

Heat butter and oil in a heavy nonstick pan over low heat. Add onions and cook 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until onions are dark golden. Serve hot, drizzled with a little balsamic vinegar.
