Purée chickpeas in a food processor or blender until smooth. Add egg yolks, salt, anisette and oil and process until smooth. Stir in next 4 ingredients and blend well. Using a clean bowl and beaters, beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Fold into chickpea mixture. Heat oil in an electric deep fryer to 400°F. Deep fry tablespoonfuls of batter 3-4 minutes until golden. Drain on absorbent paper and dust with confectioner's sugar while still warm. This recipe serves 12 people. Due to the nature of this recipe, it adjusts the number of servings in multiples of 12 only.
