  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all purpose flour, sifted
  • 1/2 lb. cream cheese
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup almonds, blanched and sliced
  • 4 cups fresh apples, thinly sliced

Preheat oven to 450°F. Beat butter, 1/3 cup cup sugar, and vanilla extract in a medium-sized bowl with an electric mixer until well-blended.
