Creme Fraiche (Crème Fraîche) Crème fraîche is a thickened cream made by combining whipping cream and buttermilk in a nonreactive container and allowing it to stand at room temperature until it thickens (for up to 24 hours). It has a tangy taste and a smooth texture, and is used a topping for fresh fruit or warm fruit desserts. It can also be added to hot liquids or soups and does not curdle when boiled. |
