Keeping Asparagus Fresh To keep asparagus from shriveling and turning brown, cut off 1 inch from the bottom of the stems and stand in a container tall enough to hold them upright. Add about 2 inches of water, cover loosely with plastic bag in which it came and place in refrigerator; adding more water as needed to keep bottoms covered. |
