Freezing Cheese To freeze block or shredded cheese, wrap it tightly. Cheese absorbs flavors from other foods, so be sure to wrap all foods in moisture- and vapor-proof materials. . Generally speaking, freezing affects the texture of hard, semi-hard, and processed cheeses. Soft cheeses are not recommended to be frozen since they lose texture and flavor. Some people shred hard cheese and freeze and use later as toppings in baked dishes. Shredded hard cheese can stay frozen up to 3 months, but the taste is a matter of personal perference. |
