Saving Energy in the Kitchen

Here are some kitchen energy-saving tips:

1. Make sure the temperature in the fridge is set between 38-40°F, the optimum range.

2. Set your freezer to 0°F.

3. Cover all food in the fridge. Otherwise, the moisture will cause the fridge to run longer.

4. Make sure the seal on the fridge is tight.

5. Clean the fridge coils at least twice a year. Clogged coils mean more electricity used.

6. Keep the fridge and freezer full. If needed, fill some empty jugs with water to take up space.

7. Use a toaster-oven, crockpot, or microwave instead of your main oven for smaller cooking tasks.

8. Keep appliances clean.
