Keeping Sponges Clean The kitchen sponge or dish cloth is perhaps THE primary breeder and spreader of germs in the house. To help prevent the spread of germs, clean your sponge daily by boiling it in water for a few minutes, by running it through the dishwasher, or by microwaving it when wet for a few minutes. Replace it regularly, ideally every 10-14 days. For cleaning up the juices of meat and poultry, don't use a sponge; use a paper towel instead. |
